WHAT IS THE REMOTE SENSING?

The Remote Sensing can be defined as the science and art to obtain data of an object analyzing the data collected by through some device that it isn't in physical contact with this object. 
On small scale, when you read these lines, you're executing an act of Remote Sensing. Your sensorial system assigned to the vision is in the first instance identifying letters, soon you grouping them in words and later in orations, for finally, adding these orations, to obtain a paragraph. Up to here You have made a physical INTERPRETATION of which there is writing. But which is the MEANING of which there is writing? ANALYZING the interpreted text, You are able to obtain a context: you have transferred to your brain the intrinsic INFORMATION of that text. In a second ANALYSIS of reflective character, your brain processes the INFORMATION just entered, collating it with the already existing in your memory, which allows You to remove his own conclusions about which it has read. In summary, of which at first they were a set of characters grouped in form apparently chaotic, an IDEA arises. 
Obvious, this process (in addition to being sensibly more complex) is carried out to a speed so, that luckyly it's impossible to us to be conscientious of each one of these steps, but basicamente this is what happens when we read . 
The history of the Remote Sensing began about 600 million ago years, when some inferior form of animal life it differentiated some of his cells, became them photosensitive. Also during million years this photosensitive rudimet evolved becoming a powerful and sophisticated sensor, the human eye. This had a mechanical imitator, the photographic camera, that made its appearance more than a century ago, and that was improved during the decade of 1930 to be applied to the aerial photography. The II World War gave a great one impulse to the aerial photography as well as to other forms of remote sensing. Nevertheless, the "quantic jump" in this discipline took place in the decade of 1960 when the satellite platforms replaced the aerials, and the multispectral electronic sensors connected to computers, replaced the cameras. The operative scheme of an observation satellite is showing in a very simplified example, in figure #1. The terrestrial objects, illuminated by the solar radiation, reflect this one after introduce modifications induced by the same structure and composition of these objects. Reflected radiation is captured by the sensors of the satellite, being partially processed inside de spacecraft and relayed to the terrestrial receiving stations for its later processing and analysis (radiant source, sensor, brain).
